The Swedish Federation of Young Scientists

The Swedish Federation of Young Scientists is a politically and religiously independent organisation, working to promote the interest of science and technology among young people in Sweden. The federation gathers science clubs from schools all over Sweden. The organisation is completely managed by students, who believe in the idea of young people inspiring other young people.

The federation organizes the National Science Fair for Young Scientists (Utställningen Unga Forskare) as well as national science camps. Every year in the Nobel week, the federation invites 25 young people from all over the world to the Stockholm International Youth Science Seminar (SIYSS).

The Swedish Research Council

The Swedish Research Council is a government agency under the Ministry of Education, Research and Culture. The Council’s three main areas of responsibility are research funding, research policy and science communication.

The Research Council has three Scientific Councils: one for Humanities and Social Sciences, one for Medicine and one for Natural and Engineering Sciences. It also includes a Committee for Educational Science and a Committee for Research Infrastructures. The Scientific Councils and the Committees for Educational Science and Research Infrastructures are expert bodies that promote and support research of the highest scientific quality within their respective areas. They also assess research, evaluate the quality and importance of research, and monitor trends in Swedish and international research.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences is an independent organisation whose overall objective is to foster the sciences, particularly mathematics and the natural sciences.

Academy work is very much based upon the Academy's ten classes, each representing a scientific subject field, and at its seven research institutes. Committees, such as the Environmental Research Committee and the Polar Research Committee work with issues requiring a broad scientific competence.

Every year the Academy awards the Nobel Prizes in Physics and Chemistry, the Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, the Crafoord Prize and a number of other large prizes.
